Sudoku
Fill the 9×9 grid so every row, column, and box has 1–9.
About Sudoku
Sudoku's modern form was published in Japan in 1984 (the name means "the digits are limited to one occurrence"), building on number-placement puzzles Howard Garns designed in Indianapolis in 1979. It conquered the world in 2005 on a simple promise: no arithmetic, no trivia — just logic, with a unique solution reachable by deduction alone.
Vimzify's Sudoku is a focused, distraction-free board. The given clues are locked and printed in dark type; your entries appear in blue, the selected cell's row, column and box are highlighted, and any cell that breaks a row, column or box rule is flagged in red with a live error count at the top — you can experiment freely because mistakes are shown, never punished, and there is no mistake limit or timer. Entries are made by selecting a cell and tapping the number pad (the ✕ button clears it). The game ships with two built-in puzzles and the New Puzzle button alternates between them, and a win is checked against the stored solution.
How to Play Sudoku
Study the 9×9 grid: the dark pre-filled digits are fixed clues you cannot change; your job is to fill every empty cell.
Click an empty cell to select it — its row, column and 3×3 box highlight so you can scan all three at once.
Tap a digit on the number pad below to place it. Tap ✕ to clear a cell you have filled.
Every row, column and 3×3 box must end up containing the digits 1–9 exactly once. Cells that currently break a rule turn red and the Errors counter at the top counts them.
Complete the grid so it matches the solution exactly and the "Puzzle Solved!" banner appears. New Puzzle loads the other built-in puzzle.

Tips & Tricks
- 💡Start by scanning for "naked singles": combine the highlighted row, column and box of an empty cell and eliminate every digit already present — cells with only one candidate left are free progress.
- 💡Work the most crowded boxes first. A 3×3 box with five or six givens usually yields two or three placements immediately, and each one unlocks its row and column.
- 💡Use the error highlighting as a teacher, not a crutch: when a placement turns red, work out which of the row, column or box already holds that digit before clearing it.
- 💡If you stall, switch perspective from cells to digits: pick one digit and find every place it can still go across the whole grid using the givens.
Sudoku — Frequently Asked Questions
How many puzzles are included?+
Two hand-checked puzzles are built in, and New Puzzle alternates between them. They are both proper Sudokus with a single stored solution, which is what the win check compares your grid against.
What does the Errors counter mean?+
It counts cells whose digit currently conflicts with another digit in the same row, column or 3×3 box. Conflicting cells are shown in red. There is no penalty and no limit — the counter is purely diagnostic, and a genuinely solved grid always reads zero.
Can I type numbers with my keyboard?+
Entry is through the on-screen number pad: select a cell with a click or tap, then tap 1–9 (or ✕ to clear). This keeps the game fully playable on touch devices.
Is there a timer, difficulty levels or a notes mode?+
No — this is a deliberately calm implementation: no clock, one comfortable difficulty, and no pencil-mark notes. The error highlighting and row/column/box highlighting are the built-in solving aids.
