XML Formatter & Validator
Pretty-print XML with proper indentation, validate it, or minify it to one line.
Frequently Asked Questions
How is the XML validated?
Your browser’s built-in XML parser checks the document for well-formedness. If it finds a problem, the parser’s error message is shown so you can locate the broken tag.
What indentation options are available?
Choose 2 spaces, 4 spaces or a tab. Attributes stay on their tag, and elements containing only text keep their text on the same line.
Does formatting change my data?
No. Only whitespace between elements is adjusted. Text content, attributes, comments and CDATA sections are preserved as-is.
Can I minify XML too?
Yes. The Minify button removes indentation and newlines, producing compact single-line XML suitable for embedding or transmission.
