Frequently Asked Questions
How is this different from the PDF Metadata Viewer?
The Metadata Viewer focuses on document properties. This counter focuses on pages: it lists the dimensions of every page (not just a sample), totals the printable area, and finds the most common page size — the numbers you need for printing quotes and format checks.
Why do pages in one PDF have different sizes?
Merged documents, scanned inserts and mixed A4/Letter sources often combine sizes. The per-page table makes mismatches obvious, and the most-common-size summary tells you the document's dominant format.
What do points mean?
A point is the PDF's native unit: 72 points = 1 inch = 25.4 mm. A4 is 595 × 842 pt and US Letter is 612 × 792 pt — use the millimetre and inch columns if points feel unfamiliar.
Can it count pages in a protected PDF?
Password-protected PDFs cannot be opened by the browser reader. Remove the password first, then count. Files are processed locally and never uploaded.
