Frequently Asked Questions
How is a weighted grade calculated?
Multiply each component score by its weight, add the products, and divide by the total weight. A 90 on a component worth 40 percent contributes 36 points toward the final grade.
How does the score-needed result work?
If your entered weights total less than 100 percent, the remainder is treated as upcoming work. The tool solves for the single average score on that remaining weight that would land exactly on your target.
What if my weights do not add to 100?
The grade so far is still computed correctly over the weight you entered. Many courses list weights that total 100 only when every component, including future ones, is counted.
Is the Grade Calculator free, and is my data private?
Yes. It is completely free and every calculation runs locally in your browser, so the numbers you enter are never uploaded, stored, or shared with anyone.
