Frequently Asked Questions
How is GPA calculated?
Each letter grade converts to grade points (A = 4.0, B = 3.0 and so on). Multiply the points by the credit hours for each course, add everything up, and divide by the total credits.
What is a good GPA?
On a 4.0 scale, 3.0 is a solid B average, 3.5 and above is strong, and 3.7+ is typically Deanβs list territory at many universities. Requirements vary by school and programme.
How do credit hours affect GPA?
Courses with more credits carry more weight. An A in a 4-credit course lifts your GPA more than an A in a 1-credit course, and a low grade in a heavy course hurts more too.
Is the GPA Calculator free, and is my data private?
Yes. It is completely free and every calculation runs locally in your browser, so the numbers you enter are never uploaded, stored, or shared with anyone.
