About Block Drop
Block Drop is Vimzify's falling-block puzzler in the tradition of the game Alexey Pajitnov created in Moscow in 1984 — a design so perfectly tuned that it has been ported to practically every device ever made. Seven tetrominoes, a narrow well, and gravity: from those ingredients comes endless variety, because the piece sequence is random and every placement decision is permanent.
This implementation keeps the modern essentials. The well is the classic 10 columns by 20 rows, all seven tetrominoes appear in their traditional colours, and a Next preview shows the incoming piece so you can plan one move deep. Scoring follows the classic table — 100, 300, 500 or 800 points for clearing 1, 2, 3 or 4 lines at once, multiplied by your level — and the level rises every 10 lines, quickening the fall from its gentle start towards a floor of 90 milliseconds per step. A hard drop slams the piece down and pays 2 points per cell travelled; soft drop is free but unhurried. On-screen buttons mirror every keyboard control for touch play.
How to Play Block Drop
Press Start Game. A tetromino begins falling from the top of the 10×20 well, and the Next box shows what follows it.
Move the piece left and right and rotate it to shape how it lands; pieces lock when they touch the stack or the floor.
Complete a full horizontal row with no gaps to clear it — clear up to four at once with the long I-piece for the maximum 800 × level points.
Every 10 lines cleared raises your level and speeds up the fall. Hard drop (Space, or the Drop button) locks a piece instantly and scores 2 points per row it travels.
The game ends when a newly spawned piece cannot enter the well. Your final score and line count are shown, and Play Again restarts from level 1.

Tips & Tricks
- 💡Build flat. Every bump and hole narrows your options for the awkward S, Z and T pieces; a level skyline accepts any tetromino without drama.
- 💡Reserve one column — usually the far left or right — as a well for the I-piece, and do not fill it with anything else. Four-line clears are worth more than five single lines combined.
- 💡Play one piece ahead: glance at the Next preview before you commit the current piece, and position it so the following piece also has a home.
- 💡At high levels, hard drop everything. It removes the wobble of last-second adjustments and the drop points quietly add hundreds to your score.
Block Drop — Frequently Asked Questions
How many points is a line clear worth?+
One line scores 100, two lines 300, three lines 500 and a four-line clear 800 — each multiplied by your current level. A hard drop also adds 2 points for every cell the piece falls.
When does the game speed up?+
Your level is your total lines divided by 10, plus 1. Each level trims 60 ms off the fall interval, from 650 ms at level 1 down to a minimum of 90 ms, which is reached around level 10 (100 lines).
Is there a hold piece or a pause button?+
Neither — this is a lean, classic-rules build: no hold queue and no pause. The Next preview is the planning tool, and games are short enough to finish in one sitting.
Does Block Drop work on mobile?+
Yes. A full set of touch buttons (left, rotate, right, down and Drop) appears under the board and mirrors the keyboard controls exactly.
