About Reaction Time Test

Reaction time — the gap between a signal appearing and your body answering it — is one of the few athletic qualities you can measure precisely with nothing but a screen. Elite sprinters react to the starting gun in about 120–150 milliseconds, racing drivers live in the same territory, and the average adult clicking a mouse lands somewhere between 200 and 300 milliseconds. This little test is the same one used by esports players and sports scientists to keep that edge sharp.

The test is brutally simple. Click to arm it and the panel turns red; somewhere between 2 and 6 seconds later — deliberately unpredictable — it flashes green, and you click as fast as humanly possible. Your time is shown instantly with a rating from "Keep Practicing" up to "Superhuman" for anything under 150 ms. Clicking too soon triggers a too-early warning and voids the attempt rather than recording it. The game remembers your last 10 attempts and maintains your average and best, so you can watch yourself sharpen over a session.

How to Play Reaction Time Test

1

Click the big panel to start. It turns red and tells you to wait for green.

2

Hold your finger or cursor ready over the panel — the green flash arrives after a random delay of 2 to 6 seconds.

3

The instant the panel turns green and shouts "CLICK NOW!", click or tap as fast as you can.

4

Your reaction time in milliseconds appears with a rating. Click the panel again to run another attempt.

5

If you click while it is still red, the attempt is voided as a false start — just click again to retry. Your average and best over the last 10 attempts are tracked below.

Tips & Tricks

  • 💡React to the colour, not to a rhythm: the delay is random between 2 and 6 seconds, so counting or anticipating only produces false starts.
  • 💡Rest your finger lightly on the mouse button or keep it hovering a millimetre above the touchscreen — eliminating travel distance is worth 10–20 ms.
  • 💡Use your peripheral focus: stare at the centre of the panel and let the whole area register the colour change instead of reading the text.
  • 💡Judge yourself on the average of several attempts, not a single lucky click — genuine improvement shows up as a falling average across the last 10 tries.

Reaction Time Test — Frequently Asked Questions

What is a good reaction time?+

The in-game scale rates under 150 ms as Superhuman, under 200 ms as Elite, under 250 ms as Above Average, under 300 ms as Average and under 400 ms as Below Average. Most adults score between 200 and 300 ms with a mouse.

Why do my times vary so much between attempts?+

Attention, fatigue, and hardware all matter. Your screen's refresh rate and mouse or touch latency can add 10–30 ms before your click even registers, which is why comparing yourself on the same device is the fair test.

What happens if I click too early?+

The attempt is marked as a false start and is not added to your history or average. Click the panel again and a fresh random wait begins.

How many attempts are remembered?+

The last 10 completed attempts. The average and best shown are calculated from those 10, and Reset clears them back to zero.
