Numbers tell you the lengths of consecutive filled blocks in each row and column. Fill mode paints picture cells; Mark mode (or right-click) places an ✕ on cells you know are empty. Drag to paint many cells at once. Press Check to catch mistakes.

About Nonogram

Nonogram (also called picross) is a pure-logic picture puzzle: the numbers beside each row and above each column describe the lengths of the consecutive filled blocks in that line, and by combining row and column information you can deduce exactly which cells belong to the picture. This version includes seven hand-designed pictures — a plus, a heart and a house at 5×5, a rocket, a fish and a sailboat at 10×10, and a pine tree at 15×15 — and every completed picture is revealed in its own colour.

Two tools make the logic manageable: Fill mode paints picture cells (drag to paint a whole run at once), while Mark mode — or a right-click — places an ✕ on cells you have proven empty, which is the key habit of experienced picross players. A mistake counter and a Check button keep you honest: pressing Check flashes any wrongly filled cells red and counts a mistake, but leaves correct work untouched and never reveals cells you have not found, so checking is a safety net rather than a spoiler.

How to Play Nonogram

1

Choose one of the seven pictures: 5×5 puzzles teach the rules, 10×10 adds real deduction, and the 15×15 pine tree is the full challenge.

2

Read the clues: in a row marked 3 1 there is a block of exactly 3 filled cells, at least one gap, then exactly 1 filled cell.

3

Use Fill mode to paint cells you are sure about; drag across cells to paint a run in one motion.

4

Use Mark mode or right-click to ✕ cells you have proven empty.

5

Press Check to verify your filled cells — wrong ones flash red and add a mistake. Fill the picture exactly to win.

Tips & Tricks

  • 💡Start with the largest clues: in a 10-wide row, a clue of 7 or more forces the centre cells to be filled no matter where the block starts.
  • 💡When a block is complete, mark ✕ on both sides of it immediately — most errors come from accidentally extending a finished block.
  • 💡Cross-reference constantly: every cell you fill in a row is also a fact about its column.
  • 💡If a line's clues plus their minimum gaps exactly equal the line length, the whole line is forced — look for these free wins first.

Nonogram — Frequently Asked Questions

What do the numbers mean in a nonogram?+

Each number is the length of one consecutive run of filled cells in that row or column, in order. A clue of 2 3 means a run of 2, then at least one empty cell, then a run of 3. A clue of 0 means the entire line is empty.

Does the Check button give away the solution?+

No. Check only looks at cells you have already filled: wrongly filled cells flash red and add one mistake to your counter, and it tells you how many picture cells remain. It never marks or reveals unfilled cells.

What counts as a mistake?+

Each press of Check that finds at least one wrongly filled cell adds one mistake. The timer and mistake count are shown at the end so you can chase a clean, fast solve.

Which puzzle should a beginner start with?+

The 5×5 Plus and Heart puzzles teach clue reading in a couple of minutes. Move to the 10×10 Rocket once marking ✕ feels natural, and save the 15×15 Pine Tree for when you want a longer deduction session.
