About Math Challenge
Mental arithmetic is a perishable skill: calculators ate the everyday practice, and most adults are slower at 7 × 8 than they were at age ten. Timed arithmetic drills are how schools build "number fluency" — instant recall that frees up thinking for harder problems — and they work just as well as a daily brain warm-up for grown-ups.
Math Challenge gives you 60 seconds and one fixed difficulty that you choose at the start. Easy serves addition and subtraction up to 20; Medium adds multiplication and raises the range to 50, with times-table factors up to 12; Hard unlocks all four operations up to 100, and its division questions are always exact (the dividend is built from the answer, so you never face a remainder). Scoring rewards consistency: each correct answer earns 1 point plus a streak bonus of 1 extra point for every full 3-answer streak you are riding, so a hot run is worth far more than scattered correct answers. Wrong answers simply break the streak — there is no point deduction.
How to Play Math Challenge
Choose Easy, Medium or Hard on the start screen. The difficulty stays fixed for the whole 60-second run.
A question appears in large type. Type your answer in the box (the field keeps focus, so you can type continuously).
Press Enter or the ✓ button to submit. Correct answers flash green and score; wrong answers flash red, increment your Wrong count and reset your streak.
Keep answering until the 60 seconds expire — the timer chip turns red for the final 10 seconds.
The results screen shows your score, correct and wrong counts, and your session best. Play Again returns to the difficulty choice.

Tips & Tricks
- 💡Streaks are the score: because every third consecutive correct answer adds bonus points, a careful 95% accuracy at medium speed outscores frantic guessing. Spend the extra half-second rather than breaking a streak of 6.
- 💡For multiplication beyond the tables, split: 7 × 14 is 7 × 10 + 7 × 4. But note factors never exceed 12, so drilling tables to 12 × 12 covers every multiplication the game can ask.
- 💡Division is multiplication read backwards: for 96 ÷ 8, ask "8 times what makes 96?" — and it always has a whole-number answer, so if you are reaching for a decimal you have misread the question.
- 💡For Hard-mode addition and subtraction near 100, round and adjust: 87 + 46 is 87 + 50 − 4 = 133. Left-to-right processing beats column methods against the clock.
Math Challenge — Frequently Asked Questions
How does the scoring work?+
A correct answer adds 1 point plus a bonus equal to your current streak divided by 3 (rounded down). So with a streak of 6 going, the next correct answer is worth 1 + 2 = 3 points. Wrong answers add nothing and reset the streak to zero.
Does the difficulty rise during a run?+
No. You pick Easy, Medium or Hard before the run and the question generator stays at that level for all 60 seconds — what changes is your streak, and therefore your scoring rate.
What kinds of questions appear at each level?+
Easy: addition and subtraction with numbers under 20. Medium: adds multiplication, with numbers up to 50 and factors up to 12. Hard: all four operations up to 100; subtraction never goes negative and division always divides exactly.
Is the best score saved?+
Your best is kept for the current session and shown in the HUD during play; it resets when you leave or reload the page.
