Blockout 3D
A 3D falling-block puzzle in a glass well โ stack, clear lines, and chase the high score.
Blockout 3D
Seven 3D tetrominoes rain into a glass well. Fill whole rows to clear them, chase levels โ and do not let the stack reach the top.
About Blockout 3D
Blockout 3D is the falling-block puzzle played somewhere it was always meant to be: inside a real glass well, eight cubes wide and fourteen tall, rendered in genuine 3D with a tumbling camera-friendly view, a translucent ghost piece projected onto the stack, and the next piece waiting on a preview pedestal. The seven classic tetrominoes fall one at a time, and your job is the eternal one โ pack them so tightly that complete horizontal rows form and clear, because a stack that touches the top ends the game.
One honest clarification, because the name has history: the 1989 arcade game Blockout moved pieces in three dimensions. This version is a simplified well-plane variant โ pieces fall and are placed in the 2D plane of the well, with the third dimension given to the presentation: chunky individual cubes, real lighting and depth, not flat tiles on a grid. What you think in is the classic 2D puzzle; what you look at is a physical object dropping into a glass box, and the ghost piece โ which shows exactly where the falling piece will land โ makes placement feel satisfyingly mechanical.
Scoring follows the classic table with a level twist: clearing 1, 2, 3 or 4 rows at once pays 100, 300, 500 or 800 points, all multiplied by your current level. Every 10 lines raises the level and the falling speed with it. Small change adds up too โ soft-dropping earns a point per step, and a hard drop earns two points per cell travelled โ so decisive play literally pays. Wall kicks let a rotation succeed even against the well's sides, and a brief lock delay after landing gives you a last instant to slide or spin a piece into place.
How to Play Blockout 3D
Press Start Game. The first tetromino begins falling inside the glass well โ 8 cubes wide, 14 tall โ and the next piece is shown on the preview pedestal.
Move the falling piece with the Left and Right arrow keys, rotate it with Up or X (wall kicks help rotations succeed near the walls), and use the translucent ghost piece to see exactly where it will land.
Press Down to soft-drop the piece faster (scoring +1 per step), or Space to hard-drop it instantly onto the ghost position (+2 per cell dropped).
Complete a full horizontal row of cubes to clear it. Simultaneous clears pay far more: 100 / 300 / 500 / 800 points for 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 rows, multiplied by your level.
Every 10 lines cleared raises your level, and each level falls faster than the last. A short lock delay after a piece touches down lets you make one final slide or rotation before it sets.
If a new piece cannot enter because the stack has reached the top, the game ends โ your score, lines and level are final, and your best score is saved.

Tips & Tricks
- ๐กBuild flat, and keep one clean shaft. A level surface gives every piece a home, and reserving a single one-wide well for the long I piece is how four-line clears (800 ร level) happen โ they are worth eight single-line clears.
- ๐กTrust the ghost piece. Place by where the ghost sits rather than by watching the falling piece โ it removes the depth-guessing entirely and lets you play noticeably faster at high levels.
- ๐กSpend the lock delay. A piece does not set the instant it lands; a last-moment slide or spin in that window rescues placements that looked wrong โ especially tucking pieces under overhangs.
- ๐กDig out of trouble with small clears. When the stack gets ragged, take the single lines on offer to lower the pile rather than gambling on a perfect piece; survival at a high level multiplies everything you score afterwards.
Blockout 3D โ Frequently Asked Questions
Is this the same as the original 3D Blockout?+
It is inspired by it, with an important difference: the original 1989 Blockout stacked pieces in full 3D inside a pit. This version is a well-plane variant โ the puzzle itself plays in 2D, like the classic falling-block game, presented inside a real 3D glass well with chunky cubes, depth, lighting, a ghost piece and a next-piece pedestal.
How does the scoring work?+
Line clears pay 100 (single), 300 (double), 500 (triple) or 800 (four at once), each multiplied by your current level. Soft drops add 1 point per step descended under your control, and a hard drop adds 2 points per cell it falls โ so fast, decisive play builds score even between clears.
How does levelling work?+
Every 10 lines cleared raises the level by one, and pieces fall faster at each level. Since clear points are multiplied by level, surviving into the high levels is where the large scores live.
Can I play Blockout 3D on mobile or in fullscreen?+
Yes. On-screen buttons provide move, rotate, soft and hard drop on touch devices, and the fullscreen button on the game frame expands the well to fill your display.
