Snake 3D

Snake is one of the oldest video game ideas in existence — it predates most home computers — and this version rebuilds it in real 3D: a glowing segmented snake gliding around a raised 17×17 arena ringed with luminous rim walls, lit and shadowed as it turns. The rule set is the pure classic one. Steer the snake, eat the red apples, grow longer with every bite, and do not touch the walls or your own body.

Two pressures do all the work. First, every apple scores 10 points but also makes the snake faster — the movement interval tightens from a relaxed 150 milliseconds per step towards a brisk 80 — so the snake you are controlling at 200 points is a much twitchier machine than the one you started with. Second, growth is permanent: the arena never gets bigger, but you do, and late-game Snake is really a space-management problem where the safest route is often a long loop around your own coiled body rather than a beeline to the apple.

Input is forgiving in the way that matters: turns are queued, so a fast double-tap to dodge registers both turns in order instead of being swallowed. The game tracks your best score between runs on the same device, giving every session a concrete target — the snake that beat you last time was your own.
