Volume Calculator
Volumes of seven 3D shapes plus a litres conversion.
Which dimensions to enter depends on the shape: Cube – Dim 1 = side. Cuboid – length, width, height (Dim 3). Sphere – radius. Cylinder – radius, height. Cone – radius, height. Square pyramid – base side, height. Hemisphere – radius.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why does a cone have one third the volume of a cylinder?
A cone with the same base and height as a cylinder holds exactly one third as much, which you can verify by filling a cone with sand and pouring it into the cylinder three times to fill it.
How do I convert cubic metres to litres?
One cubic metre is 1,000 litres, and one litre is 1,000 cubic centimetres. So a volume in cubic centimetres divided by 1,000 gives litres directly.
What dimensions does a cylinder need?
Just radius and height: V = π r² h. Measure the diameter across the circular end and halve it to get the radius if the radius is not given directly.
Is the Volume Calculator free, and is my data private?
Yes. It is completely free and every calculation runs locally in your browser, so the numbers and dates you enter are never uploaded, stored, or shared with anyone.
