Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between screen size and viewport?
Screen size is your whole display (for example 1920×1080). The viewport is just the part of the browser window where the web page renders, which is what web developers actually design for.
What is device pixel ratio (DPR)?
DPR is how many physical pixels make up one CSS pixel. Retina and high-DPI screens have a DPR of 2 or 3, which is why images need to be exported at 2× for sharpness.
Why does the viewport change as I resize?
The readings update live. Drag your browser window smaller and watch the viewport and orientation values change in real time.
What is my screen size in inches?
This page knows pixel counts, not physical size. Combine your resolution with the PPI Calculator if you know your monitor’s diagonal size.
