How is the elapsed time calculated?
Both date-times are converted to timestamps and subtracted. The millisecond difference is then expressed as decimal hours, a days-hours-minutes breakdown, total minutes and total seconds.
Does it handle daylight saving changes?
Yes, in real elapsed time. Because timestamps are absolute, a period spanning a spring-forward clock change correctly shows one hour less of real time than the wall-clock difference suggests.
How do I bill for partial hours?
Use the decimal hours figure and multiply by your hourly rate. Many freelancers round up to the nearest quarter hour: 2.26 hours would be billed as 2.5 hours under that convention.
