Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Mifflin-St Jeor equation?
It estimates basal metabolic rate from weight, height, age and sex: for men, 10 x weight(kg) + 6.25 x height(cm) - 5 x age + 5; for women the same formula ends with -161 instead of +5. Studies rate it the most accurate simple equation.
How is TDEE different from BMR?
BMR is the energy your body burns at complete rest. TDEE multiplies BMR by an activity factor (1.2 sedentary up to 1.9 for athletes) to estimate total daily energy expenditure including movement and exercise.
How fast will I lose weight on the lose target?
A 500 kcal daily deficit is roughly 3,500 kcal per week, theoretically about 0.45 kg (1 lb) of fat per week. Real results vary with adherence, water retention and metabolic adaptation.
Is the Calorie Calculator free, and is my data private?
Yes. It is completely free and every calculation runs locally in your browser, so the numbers and dates you enter are never uploaded, stored, or shared with anyone.
